55 Knives: Recipes and Stories from Your Favorite Food Bloggers (Including Me!)

by moderndomestic on June 17, 2010

I'm in a book!

So, raise your hands – how many of you read Macheesmo, Nick Evan’s fabulous DC-based cooking blog? What’s that? Everyone’s raising their hands? And how many of you knew that Macheesmo published an e-book, 55 Knives, featuring recipes and stories from 55 of your favorite food bloggers? What? Most of you? And how many of you have actually purchased this lovely e-book?

Well, I won’t make you raise your hands. But, seriously, if you’re looking for some summer IPad reading check out 55 Knives, which features recipes from some of my favorite bloggers, like Mango and Tomato, The Arugula Files, Not Derby Pie, The Bitten Word, and more. I’m a contributing writer too – and yes, I’m writing about dessert (more than that I won’t say – you just have to check it out for yourself).

Nick’s put a ton of work into this project, and I think his idea to cull top-notch recipes and writing from the food blogger community is brilliant. Each recipe is paired with a story, so you’re not just buying a cookbook, you’re buying a diverse food memoir too. Want a taste of the book? Read an excerpt, with a sample chapter (Nick’s) and the table of contents. The 174 page PDF is available for $18 – you can buy it here.

And there’s still time to download a copy before you get on that plane for your summer vacation, hit the beach, or start planning your 4th of July party.

I’m still a little intimidated by the recipe you included… But once I build up my courage, I’ll be testing it out and blogging about it. Just you wait! Maybe I’ll have time over 4 July weekend. :)

OMG, it’s really not hard. I think you’ll even be able to cook it in your crazy oven :-)

When is the paper version hitting the stands? I’m way too old fashioned for PDF cookbooks.
