DC State Fair Bake Sale – A Sweet Success

by moderndomestic on November 23, 2010

A farmer's market sign, advertising our delicious baked goods.

Thanks to everyone who came out to the DC State Fair Bake Sales on Saturday and Sunday! We had a truly delicious array of treats to sell, and we had fabulous volunteer bakers and sellers. We were able to reach our fundraising goals, which puts us that much closer to becoming a “legit” nonprofit organization that will bring you a bigger and better fair in 2011.

Every time I do something for the DC State Fair, I’m amazed and humbled by all the people who come out and support us. This bake sale couldn’t have happened without you, and we really value and appreciate your support.

Special thanks to the 14th and U and Bloomingdale Farmers markets for hosting us. Many, many thanks to all the bakers and volunteers. Thanks to Garner’s Produce, for providing us with a tent. And thanks to everyone who came by and bought our baked goods.

Finally, thanks to The District Chocoholic for her cherpumple donation, and congrats to the Fat Man After Dark, our cherpumple winner! He’s promised to send pics of what it looks like sliced, so I hope to share that with you this week.

Apple cupcakes, with Virginia apples.

Sylvie, Thrifty DC Cook, baked whole pies (this is an apple pie).

One of my contributions - pumpkin whoopie pies with cream cheese icing.

Apple and oatmeal muffins.

Hey there!

I met you at the market on Friday and bought those gingersnap iced cookies (next to your pumpkin whoopie pies in the above picture!) Do you know who made those and/or where I could get the recipe?

Thanks!
Katie
